Reuben graduated in 1988 from the University of London with an honours degree in microbiology and genetics. After working for the government he qualified as a European patent attorney in 1995 and a UK patent attorney in 1996. Since joining the profession he has built up a wealth of experience in advising clients operating in the fields of biotechnology, medtech and chemistry, including representing industrial clients, universities and research organisations. His special interest is in helping SMEs enhance their businesses by the creation of strategies for the acquisition, organisation and exploitation of their intellectual property rights. In terms of specialist technologies, Reuben has a particular interest in fungal genetics/technologies, medical devices and laboratory instrumentation such as thermalcyclers and lab-on-a-chip devices.
Over the years Reuben has gained considerable experience in conducting oppositions and appeals before the European Patent Office, including appearing at oral proceedings before the Examining Division, Opposition Divisions and Appeal Boards. He is experienced in intellectual property litigation, both in a support role in the UK and in the co-ordination of Europe-wide litigation strategies.
Reuben is a member of FICPI and is a former FICPI UK Exco Delegate. He is also a member of AIPPI and a regular Observer at the APAA World Congress. He is also a member of the British Mycological Society.
Reuben’s out of office interests include attempting to keep control of two unruly gundogs, fly-fishing, skiing and shooting.
Reuben joined Jenkins as a partner in 2003.
