Out and About
Roger George and Stephen James were amongst a group of UK private practicioners and industry representatives who visited the Community Trade Mark Office in Alicante on 13th February to discuss recent developments in OHIM practice and to propose ways of further improving the Office’s day to day operation. Amongst the topics discussed were OHIM’s policy on retail services, the urgent need for a published Office Manual dealing, in particular, with the examination of marks on absolute grounds and the Opposition Divisions’ practice in relation to pharmaceutical trade marks.
Stephen James is the chairman of a panel discussing the registrability and enforcement of non-traditional trade marks at the PTMG Conference due to be held in Copenhagen on 19-20th March 2001.
